How To Achieve Financial Freedom

Remember that juicy but very short period not so long ago when you had so much money you were so very happy you nearly ended up setting up your own bank with it? Well, whiles you are at liberty to argue it out, it is common knowledge that shortly after that your heaven on earth era, there came a sudden financial dumsor (blackout) that certainly, had you thinking about “where has all that cash just vanished to?”, “but I didn’t buy so many things”, “oh well, I shouldn’t have bought this, I shouldn’t have bought that”.

Below, are some well known and basic "hacks" to help us to be able to control this menace of constant financial imprisonment. Enjoy.

1.      Don’t a have budget yet? You definitely need one!
Are you familiar with the popular quote “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”? In the business world, preparing a budget for what you will use your money for within the next 1 hour is as important as planning the marketing strategy to adopt for Coca Cola. A budget is simply a list of items that one plans to spend an estimated amount of money on within a specified time. They help a lot in keeping you in track on what and you have authorized yourself on using your money on at any time. It doesn’t cost to prepare one. Let’s look at a typical student budget.

2.      Avoid unbudgeted spending.
One of the major problems facing students (including the even the grade A students of the A business schools) all around the world, is their inability to be financially disciplined. Sad. But true. According to Mawuli Kokoroko, a student of the University of Ghana, he usually spends more than 20% – 30% more money than he budgets for each day. Now, let’s do a little calculation here. Suppose Mawuli budgeted to spend GHC 10.00 a day, 30% of it will be GHC 3.00 plus the budgeted GHC 10.00, making a total expenditure of GHC 13.00 a day. In case he spends GHC 13.00 a day for a year, he would have spent GHC 4,745. But if he was able to keep to spending GHC 10.00 a day, he would have spent approximately GHC 3,650 a year, which could have saved him GHC 1,095. So, draw the conclusion yourself.

3.      Prefer Quality To Quantity.
I definitely am not saying that trying to achieve efficiency is a bad idea, but one must always be cautious about that. And to say the least, being effective also helps a lot trust me. In as much as we will all like to buy so much from a little amount of money, actually, buying a few but quality stuffs could save you the hustle of having to buy the same thing(s) over and over again. So next when you have the financial backing to make purchase, please prefer the ones being sold in the store to the ones being sold on the streets.

4.       “Let me borrow and pay later.” No. Not yet.
No! Not always because you might just get addicted to that very ugly pattern of life. If you have ever watched the popular TV series “Suit” before, you should be well acquainted with the quote “If you have a bullet put to your head, you don’t give up because you have 146 more options to explore”. Literately, the quote implies that whenever you’re faced with financial challenges, make sure you exhaust all possible options well enough before turning to your saviors for help. Because not only can it become addictive, you might end up losing your belongings to payback.

5.      Savings. Savings. Savings.
"Little drops of water makes a mighty ocean" - Anonymous. And I say "a little coins savings makes a world bank."
Make savings a good friend, instead of seeing it as an enemy. Because it does not only help you save money, it also unknowingly, helps you cultivate the habit of saving for and in future. So next time you have more money on you than you might need, think of the world bank you can create for yourself which will help you just when you need it most.

       Other points you may consider...
6.      Why take transport when you can walk
7.      Disciplined food habit.
8.      Be prepared for the “In Case Of Emergency”.
9.      Instead of buying lunch, prepare it yourself.

5.      Bargaining before buying also helps.

Importance Of Teamwork In The Organisation

Teamwork has always been the pillar of all businesses being it startups, medium or big time companies. Organisations started developing key interest into the usefulness and practicability of teamwork in the early 1920's, the most of prominent of them being the Hawthorne Experiment by Professor Elton Mayo, who was an Industrial Researcher at Harvard University in 1927. About Professor Elton Mayo's Experiment Mayo selected two ladies from the factory, and they in turn chose another four ladies to participate in the experiment. The team worked in isolation, under the supervision of a friendly supervisor who established a working relationship with them. He took time to explain the changes that were to be introduced, asked for their feedback and listened to their complaints. Mayo then varied the working conditions like working hours and number and duration of rest breaks in stages. The level of production was mechanically recorded, while the supervisor rec

The difference between successful people and the rest of the world.

It takes 10 years of hard work to bring an overnight success  is my favorite line of a speech delivered by M.anifest on 29th December, 2014, when I attended a one-day youth camp held by Ahaspora Young Professionals at the University of Ghana, Legon. According to him, it takes one, years of ‘underground’ hard work coupled with sleepless nights in other to achieve one’s goals in life.                 So today, I wish to share with you my audience, some of the other key lessons I learnt from M.anifest and the other excellent speakers that I had the privilege of listening to, on what I would later title “The Difference Between Successful People And The Rest Of The World” . -           What the rest of the world see ahead of them problems and barriers, the success-minded ones see them as opportunities. -           Just when the world thinks it is over and they are fed-up, the success-minded individuals  are re-strategizing, look for updated ways of solving their problem
