It takes 10 years of hard work to bring an overnight success is my favorite line of a speech delivered by M.anifest on 29th December, 2014, when I attended a one-day youth camp held by Ahaspora Young Professionals at the University of Ghana, Legon. According to him, it takes one, years of ‘underground’ hard work coupled with sleepless nights in other to achieve one’s goals in life.
So today, I wish to share with you my audience, some of the other key lessons I learnt from M.anifest and the other excellent speakers that I had the privilege of listening to, on what I would later title “The Difference Between Successful People And The Rest Of The World”.
- What the rest of the world see ahead of them problems and barriers, the success-minded ones see them as opportunities.
- Just when the world thinks it is over and they are fed-up, the success-minded individuals are re-strategizing, look for updated ways of solving their problems.
- Success-minded people DO NOT QUIT. Not even when they fail. They get up stronger than ever before & they prefer to endure than to give up unlike the rest of the world.

- The rest of the world just want results but don’t care about the process. The success-minded person wants to know the process that brings the most fulfilling and permanent results.
- Whiles the successful people are always on top of the game, the rest of the world simply don’t know what’s going on.
- Successful people think differently. They think out of the box. They envision poultry farms when they are given eggs, instead of eating them for pleasure.
- Successful people are strategic thinkers and long term planners. They plan their lives with challenging yet attainable goals and they work towards it. They just don’t go anywhere the wind takes them.
